Tom Cruise is a cop on the run in the year 2054, a time when infallible psychics finger future felons. (If only they could do the same for stock market winners.) Samantha Morton and Colin Farrell co-star, while late science fiction icon Philip K. Dick's story provides the source material for what looks like Spielberg's smartest and most spectacular movie in years. It might even be everything A.I. was meant to be and wasn't-and that's saying something.
