Mr. Oizo. - Brief Article - Review - sound recording review

Interview,  March, 2000  by Julia Chaplin

Analog Worms Attack (Mute)

If Spike Jonze lived in Paris and cruised around in a beat-up Pinto with a yellow puppet pal named Flat Eric, then his name might be Quentin Dupieux. The twenty-five-year-old French video auteur / musician, who goes by the name Mr. Oizo, catapulted into continental superstardom last year when he directed a quirky ad campaign for Levi's, set to his single "Flat Beat." Three million copies later, Dupieux decided to go for the full-length. The result is a pure Franco Americana electro-party with heaps of nod 'n' wink scratching, butt-rocking bass lines and titles like "Last Night a DJ Killed My Dog." You've gotta hear it to believe it.
