Call it "Deus ex melancholia." Even amid the buoyant melodies of this guitar-crunched set (beefed up by returning drummer jimmy Chamberlain), Billy Corgan sees only sorrow. "Blue Skies Bring Tears" even finds him pleading for someone to "unleash the Armageddon / so all the children go to heaven." It's pure doom and gloom.
