Legendary interior decorator Frances Adler Elkins (1888-1953) is the subject of this oversize (9.5 X 12.25") volume. She was considered independent, avant-garde, and strong-willed, and she pioneered the elements of style in interior decorating that are standard today: eclecticism, vibrant color, pattern-on-pattern, and combining modern with antique. The book begins with a brief overview of her life and career, and continues with concise text and color and black & white photographs of her important commissions. A concluding section shows selected furniture, wallpaper, fabrics, and accessories, and a list of selected clients. The book is not indexed.
