Aiming to "present a balanced portrait of Bush's actions and motivations," Dietrich (Bryant U.) presents a collection of major foreign policy addresses by the President, organized according to categories dealing with the pre-Sept. 11th era, the "War on Terrorism," Iraq, general security issues, global issues, Europe and Russia, relations with Asian powers, Middle East peace and reform, and Latin America and Africa. Each section includes a brief introductory essay providing background material and incorporating material from critics well within the mainstream of American foreign policy elites. Policy documents produced by the administration (such as the National Security Strategy of the United States) and other material that might have shed further light on Bush's approach to foreign policy are not included.
