Pertamina, Para to Collaborate on New Geothermal Plants

Renewable Energy Today,  March 2, 2006

Dow Jones recently reported that Indonesia's state-run energy company Pertamina has signed a "preliminary agreement" with the private Indonesian firm Para Group to build geothermal power plants in South Sumatra, Lampung and West Java.

According to Dow Jones, the $1.5-billion project will have a total capacity of 1,060 megawatts (MW). The new service noted that the plants will be located on geothermal fields owned by Pertamina in Indonesia's "Ring of Fire" volcanic chain.

Dow Jones said the launch date for construction of the facilities will be announced following the completion of feasibility studies.
