Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedTai Sophia Institute announces changes in Botanical Healing program - Brief Article
Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, June, 2002
Tai Sophia Institute (the new name for the expanded Traditional Acupuncture Institute) has made adjustments to the format of its new Master's program in Botanical Healing to create more flexibility for students. As a direct result of student requests, the format of the Botanical Healing program has been changed. This shift will enable students to continue to work part-time or meet other obligations while attending the program.
"Many people have expressed interest in our botanical program," say Admissions Director Lisa Connelly-Duggan, "but needed to continue working while in school. This modification of our schedule serves the needs of our current and prospective student population. We are happy to accommodate their needs."
Starting in the Fall of 2002 students will attend class two days per week and one weekend a month. The typical class day will be 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. and the program will be approximately 27 months (just over 2 years) in length. The original design was a 24-month program where students attended classes four days per week.
According to Rachel Pritzker, program coordinator, "The curriculum has not changed. The same dynamic program is being delivered, only on a slightly different schedule. Our current students and our faculty all welcome this shift. The first class of our pioneering program began in January and we have an eager and focused group of graduate students forging new ground. The next intake is in September 2002."
In another important development, Tai Sophia Institute has been accepted by the Commission on Higher Education as a candidate for accreditation. The official statement issued by the Commission reads as follows: "Effective November 2001, Tai Sophia Institute is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104 USA; 215-662-5606.
"Candidate for Accreditation is a status of affiliation with a regional accrediting commission which indicates that an institution has achieved recognition and is progressing forward, but is not assured of, accreditation. It has provided evidence of sound planning, seems to have the resources to implement the plans, and appears to have the potential for obtaining its goals within a reasonable time."
With this current status, Tai Sophia Institute can now apply to offer Federal Financial Aid. Anyone interested in applying for financial aid for the Botanical Healing program should contact Ban Fort, Financial Aid Administrator, at extension 628. For further information about the Botanical Healing program, contact Admissions at extension 647.
