Rupert Doesn't Get The Net - Company Operations - Brief Article
Industry Standard, The, Jan 15, 2001 by Alex Lash
News Corp. said it will fold its Fox Network Web properties -- Fox.com, Foxnews.com and Foxsports.com -- back into their respective broadcast units. The sites and URLs will still exist, but layoffs are expected. The news is not surprising, given chairman Rupert Murdoch's well-known disdain for the Net.
Two days before, News Corp. dramatically scaled back its partnership with WebMD, costing the health site $275 million, which it will write off as a one-time charge.
