An article states that between 1975 and 1991, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections in US hospitals rose from 2.4% to 29%. * A member writes about how her chapter started a successful nursing research committee. * The Journal reports that with recent improvements in the safety of the volunteer blood supply, some researchers are beginning to question the need for and benefits of autologous blood donation in relation to its higher costs.

* "Legislation" discusses the "Nurse March on Washington" that took place March 31, 1995. Between 5,000 and 25,000 nurses participated in the march, which was designed to educate the public about how patient care is being compromised as a result of major restructuring within the hospital industry.
