The "President's Message" discusses AORN's goals, one of which is to expand the Headquarters building to improve productivity. * An article about reprocessing disposable items says reuse always has been practiced and that it is now "coming out of the closet." * Three authors detail their hospital's conversion to computerized system in the OR.

Their scheduling system previously consisted of two filing cabinets, preference cards were updated manually, and daily OR procedure schedules were retyped each time the schedule changed. * An article on carpal tunnel syndrome states that this common disorder often was misdiagnosed but now is more readily recognized and treated.
