DSN Retailing Today,  June 10, 2002

Therrell "Terry" Lamont McAlister Jr., a long-time buyer for Waccamaw and HomePlace of America, died in his home in Caropines Trace, S.C., on Tuesday, May 14. He was 44.

Born Oct. 14, 1957, in Hemingway, S.C., he began working as a housewares buyer for Waccamaw in the late 1980s and continued on until the company, which was renamed HomePlace of America after a merger, liquidated in 2001. His survivors include his wife Linda Norwood McAlister, and his son Tristen.

Mr. Lamont battled a brain tumor for many years. When HomePlace filed Chapter 11, he lost his life insurance. A trust fund for Tristen McAlister has been established. Memorials may be made to Education Trust Fund, Sunbank, c/o John Truelove, P.O. Box 1359, Murrells Inlet, S.C. 29576.
