Don't hide the milk carton—ER, just yet - health matters - Brief Article

Better Nutrition,  Nov, 2001

A recent research review in the Journal of Nutrition examined 30 studies to look at the connection between nutrients in milk--especially calcium, magnesium and potassium--and risk of stroke. The finding? The balance of minerals in cow's milk (and other dairy products)--although potassium was most important--appears to help reduce blood pressure and risk of stroke.

According to the author, Dr. Linda K. Massey, professor of food science and human nutrition at Washington State University Spokane, "By eating more dairy products, you may also be reducing your risk of osteoporosis, certain cancers and even obesity."
