Says Groene, "Most people in their 50s and 60s don't think of themselves as senior citizens, so they never think of asking about senior discounts. Most merchants rarely mention such discounts unless the customer asks first." Age 50 is the just the beginning, with more and more discounts coming on line at ages 55, 60, 62, or 65. At many Krispy Kreme donut shops and Luby's cafeterias, the senior discount starts at age 50. Arby's, Chili's, and Applebee's are among other eateries mentioned, but discounts at such national chains vary by location-there may be no uniform policy. The book is available in bookstores or tan be ordered through Simon & Schuster, (888) 866-6631.
