MILLERSVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2000
Seek123.com announced this week that it has launched a new meta search engine that allows an Internet user to conduct a topic-specific search more quickly and efficiently. The Millersville, Tennessee based company also announced that as part of the site's launch, it is partnering with Auctions.com to host a celebrity auction tie-in benefiting The Children's Health Fund.
The auction began July 1st and runs through July 28th. Each week will focus on a different celebrity arena, including music, sports and other celebrity items. 100% of the auction proceeds will go to The Children's Health Fund, whose mission is to provide primary health care programs for the nation's most medically underserved children.
"Seek123.com is committed to causes benefiting children, and we wanted our launch to reflect this commitment," said Rob Bates, Seek123.com's president.
The Seek123.com site uses meta search technology to allow users to access 300-plus search engines or to search sites listed within its content-specific "vortals." Vortals offer the Web's best sites based upon topic of Interest. For example, a music aficionado can use Seek123.com's music vortal to view the top music sites without having to sift through the hundreds of thousands of entries returned in a traditional search.
"Our research showed that consumers were becoming frustrated by the lack of relevant returns they were receiving from many search engines. We are simply giving them the option to evaluate which search engines they prefer," said Mr. Bates. "We've created a window to the Internet that is simple to understand and use."
The Children's Health Fund auction can be accessed through Seek123.com's home page, where there is a complete listing of items for auction. "If the auction is successful, it will be the first of many such strategic partnerships supporting the non-profit community," said Mr. Bates.
Seek123.com, based in Millersville, Tennessee, is a newly formed business unit of BFC Enterprises/Pages of Time, a privately held publishing company in business for 35 years. BFC Enterprises is a leading supplier to gift stores, bookstores and tourist outlets nationwide.
