WATERTOWN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2000

HighWired.com, the world's largest online community of high schools, today announced HighWiredSports' Baseball All-America Team 2000. The HighWiredSports Baseball All-America Team 2000 is a comprehensive recognition of the top high school baseball players and is selected by David Krider, the former USA Today writer who has chosen the country's All-American high school athletes for nearly 20 years. The complete selection will be located on HighWiredSports -- a sports-only resource on the HighWired.com network -- on August 15th. The All-America selections are featured in the summer issue of All-Stater Sports magazine.

The All-America Team 2000 represents the top-notch performers in all aspects of high school baseball -- each was selected because of his tremendous abilities and success on the baseball diamond. HighWiredSports has selected David Espinosa, a shortstop at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami, Florida, as the High School Baseball Player of the Year. The Rancho Bernado High School baseball team in San Diego, California has been named Team of Year and its coach, Sam Blalock, has been selected as the Coach of the Year.

"The athletes selected for the Baseball All-America Team 2000 exemplify the excellence, hard work and dedication necessary to reach this level of high school baseball," said Donald Young, CEO and president of HighWired.com. "HighWiredSports will continue to publicize news surrounding standout athletes, teams and coaches from high schools throughout the nation. Our partnerships with sports industry leaders, and our all-star staff, provide HighWiredSports with the first all-inclusive coverage of high school athletics -- in print and on the Web."
