NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2000

"End-to-end" Licensing Agreement Integrates InterTrust's Leading Digital Rights Management Technology Into DigMedia's MP3 Hardware and

Record Label Streaming Services

DigMedia, an end-to-end music service provider and digital appliance manufacturer, and InterTrust Technologies Corp. (Nasdaq:ITRU), the MetaTrust Utility(TM), today announced a comprehensive licensing agreement to integrate InterTrust's leading Digital Rights Management (DRM) into DigMedia's digital audio devices, as well as its digital music and video hosting services.

The first half of DigMedia's end-to-end initiative is to provide music hosting and e-commerce services that enable record labels to transmit and sell music over the Internet. At the receiving end, DigMedia manufactures PC and non-PC appliances to playback DRM-encoded music and video files.

"We are pleased to enter into a comprehensive licensing agreement with DigMedia," said Edmund Fish, executive vice president and chief business officer, InterTrust Technologies. "Integrating InterTrust's leading DRM technology into DigMedia's products and services is an important step toward creating new business models where artists and labels can create, sell and persistently protect their music content."

"This agreement with InterTrust will bolster our offering to record labels by giving us the development tools to transmit music and video data securely using the most advanced digital rights management technology available," said Pedro Vargas, a former 12-year business development veteran with Intel, and current chairman and CTO of DigMedia.

"With InterTrust's technology, reception devices like our 2,400 song MusicStore CD/MP3 device (http://www.dig-music.com/toys_framest.htm) will be able to unlock DRM-encoded files from the PC and non-PC devices without the need of a third-party 'viewer' program like RealAudio(R) or Windows Media(TM) Player."
