There were more delayed flights in 2004 than in 2003, according to the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The delays were caused by congestion and bad weather, and other results showed more mishandled baggage and complaints about airline service. Airfares in 2004 were the lowest since 1988 and attracted more passengers than ever before, the Air Transport Association said.
In the statistics Hawaiian Airlines had the best arrival performance, as the airline landed on schedule 93.8% of the time. The worst arrival performance was by Delta Air Lines' subsidiary Comair with 62.5%, while SkyWest Airlines flight 6973, from Indianapolis to Chicago, was the only flight to be late 100% of the time.
