A tourist aircraft crashed into a skyscraper in Milan, Italy yesterday (18 April) killing at least three people and injuring dozens more.
The private Rockwell Commander 112TC aircraft was en route from Locarno, Switzerland to Milan's Linate airport when it crashed into a 30-storey office block known as the Pirelli building - reportedly the tallest building in Italy. The impact happened at about 1745 local time.
Officials have stated that the crash is likely to have been an accident. The pilot had apparently reported problems with the aircraft's undercarriage and was told to head west, but instead he headed north, into the city, telling the air traffic control that he was resolving the problem.
