According to a new Gartner Group study consumers are still wary of online authentication systems.
Gartner goes on to claim that in its survey, it was revealed that online users are not interested in online identity and authentication accounts and are not likely to be any time soon. Similarly, it was found that the majority of consumers that have signed up to an online authentication service have only done so because they were required to in order to use a particular online service.
The Gartner study polled 2,000 consumers in August 2001 and February 2002.
