Goodand good for you
Vegetarian Times, Sept, 2002
It may be no accident that South Asian vegetarian cuisine tastes good. It's also good for you, so Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she made it so tempting. A study by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine published in the May 10, 2002 issue of the International Journal of Cancer, found that a lifelong vegetarian diet may reduce your risk of breast cancer.
In the study of more than 900 South Asian women, those who had lived without meat had slightly reduced odds of developing breast cancer than their carnivorous sisters. The findings provide evidence "that a lifelong diet rich in vegetables, such as those typically found in South Asian diets, may be protective against [breast] cancer."
