Jitney Jungle banner disappearing as Winn-Dixie transition completes

Drug Store News,  Sept 24, 2001

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie has begun renaming the last 48 Jitney Jungle stores acquired last year. The name change is the final piece of a transition that began following Winn-Dixie's purchase of 68 stores from Jitney Jungle in October 2000.

The acquisition included 54 stores in Mississippi, 11 stores in Alabama and three in Louisiana. Jitney Jungle stores that were located in markets where Winn-Dixie operated were changed to the Winn-Dixie's banner shortly following the acquisition, the supermarket retailer reported.
