Excel Switching Corporation completes Commetrex' T.38 interoperability testing - Brief Article

EDP Weekly's IT Monitor,  July 28, 2003

Excel Switching Corporation and Commetrex have completed T.38 interoperability testing on the Excel Converged Services Platform (CSP) in Commetrex's T.38 Interoperability Lab. The results of the 16-point test are posted on Commetrex's T.38 Interoperability Lab web site. The Excel Converged Services Platform was found to be interoperable based on the Lab's established criteria.

Victor Saverino, Excel's XoIP Project Manager, explains: "We learned about Commetrex at a Voice on the Net Show. Commetrex seemed to be leading the industry effort for T.38 interoperability. And we now know as a result of this comprehensive testing that we can achieve interoperability with other company's equipment. Our CSP Platform is a more robust product now, in terms of its T.38 fax support. We certainly recommend any OEM seeking interoperability to pursue the same path."

Excel offers CSP as a high-performance, carrier-grade open services platform that addresses the industry's demand for profitable applications. "Excel's interoperability testing went very smoothly," says Mike Wells, the Lab's lead engineer. "Commetrex opened the T.38 Interoperability Lab in January of 2002 and has offered testing to any and all equipment developers with fielded gateways interested in achieving industry-wide interoperability of T.38-capable network equipment.
