eXtensible Information Server Named Best Database of Show; Stylus
Studio Named Best XML/XSLT Editor for Second Consecutive Year
eXcelon(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq: EXLN) today announced that the company's eXtensible Information Server (XIS), a market-leading native XML database management system, won top honors at the XML & Web Services 2002 Conference and Expo in London, England. This year, XIS was awarded the "Best Database System" of the show, receiving the honor over Software AG's Tamino. In addition, Stylus Studio, eXcelon's integrated development environment, was recognized as the "Best XML/XSLT Editor & Tools" of the show. The honors demonstrate eXcelon's leadership in the XML data management and development market.
XIS allows companies building distributed and Web service applications to manage large collections of XML documents without compromising the inherent flexibility of XML. By managing XML business documents in memory at the node level, XIS enables XML documents to be dynamically extended throughout the life of a long-running, asynchronous business transaction. In addition, node-level management ensures the speed and throughput necessary to support the performance requirements of today's mission critical applications. XIS provides broad support for leading software platforms and connectivity in J2EE environments.
Used by over 20,000 developers worldwide, Stylus Studio is an integrated development environment (IDE) that supports the task of authoring, validating and debugging XSLT applications and XML-to-XML mappings. Stylus Studio is the only XML IDE that delivers an integrated XSLT, Java, and MSXML debugger with source-level debugging and back-mapping. Stylus Studio is included with XIS, and is also available as a stand-alone product.
XML & Web Services' speakers, delegates and all visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to cast votes, which determine the "Best in Show" honors. Application Development Advisor Magazine, a technical publication for professional software application developers, sponsored the awards.
"The highly coveted `Best in Show' awards presented this year for Best Database System and Best XML/XSLT Editor & Tools reflect the innovation of eXcelon's technology," said Philip Lee, president, eXcelon. "The XML & Web Services Conference and Expo is widely regarded as a prestigious industry event, and we are honored that members of the XML and Web services community recognize the unique value that our XML data management and development products bring to emerging Web services technologies and architectures."
